Thank you for visiting The Otium Shop collection. The collection is made from both epoxy resin and acrylic resin, referred to as Jesmonite. Jesmonite was invented by Peter Hawkin in the early 1980s.

Jesmonite is a eco-friendly composite material, a combination of a reactive mineral base and a pure water based acrylic resin. Jesmonite products are safe non-solvent alternatives to solvent based products such as fibreglass and polyester resin. It contains no VOCs or harmful chemicals. I love using it as anytime I have some left over or break something, I can break it up into terrazzo chips or use it in another piece, so there is very little waste!

 Ensure all products are cleaned with a soft, damp cloth and gentle soap. All our products are sanded & sealed with an organic wax making them water resistant, however they can still absorb liquids causing marks and stains.

Please keep these products indoors as the outdoor elements can shorten their lifespan and cause blemishes to the surface.

 

They are not waterproof, and we do not recommend putting

food directly on the surfaces.
