The Story

The name, Otium, is a Latin derived word referring to time spent on leisure activities which include eating, drinking, playing, reading, or an activity you enjoy doing alone or sharing with friends and family.

 

The concept of The Otium Shop was born from the desire to create

opportunities for family and friends to connect. As a wife and mother of four children, I want to build shared memories with my family, and want my children to develop the desire and skill to connect with others. In today’s world of never ending iPhone use, struggles with mental health, and the growing increase of overall anxiety,  I wanted to create a collection to inspire us to slow down, live intently and remember the value of connecting with yourself, with your family and with friends. When we remember to take care of ourselves, we are much more able to care for others.
